If you desktop icons are redrawing
too frequently or are corrupt, it could be because the icon cache
is full. Try increasing the size by changing this setting.
To change this, follow the next steps:
- To open the Registry Editor click on the Start button on
your taskbar, then click on Run and type "regedit"
and click on OK to start the regedit utility.
- Expand
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer
(see picture 1).

- Create a new string value, or modify the existing value, called
"Max Cached Icons" and set it to "2000". This will
increase the maximum icon cache to 2MB.
- The modifications you made will be in effect after you reboot
your PC.
